That is impossible to answer due to the way financial aid is given in private schools. Even at the University I teach at, which is public, there is a huge range of actual costs. Some people pay nothing at all, such as West Virginia Promise Scholars. Others pay full tuition which is often tremendous. For example, you could go to West Virginia Wesleyan or Wheeling Jesuit and pay quite a bit or very little.

What you need to do is fill out the Federal financial aid form at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. The cost of tuition will be partially driven by the answer there. You need to call all accredited programs in the two states. In private colleges you can at least partially ignore the stated tuition. That is the highest amount they will charge. They often waive part for students without the means to pay. Often the most expensive schools, if you were rich, are the least expensive for the poor, assuming they want you.

The answer is actually no. That is an urban legend that I believe was created as a joke to illustrate the large amount of unneccessary or ridicluous laws being created by the state of Vermont many years ago.

However, it is still illegal to tie an aligator to a fire hydrant in Florida and Florida has the largest State constitution which has more contradicting laws in it than any other state in the US.

Depends on what part of Illinois your talking about. The Chicago area is expensive. The more rural areas and smaller cities are much less expensive. Property values and taxes are higher in California than in most of the rest of the country.
